INTRODUCTION

NNIL Commercial Company Ltd with registration number RC 1993 is located at 7th Floor, Hamza Zayyad House, 4, Muhammadu Buhari Way, Kaduna as indicated above. The company is co-owned by New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) Ltd, 90% and New Capital Properties Ltd (NCPL), 10%. Both NNIL Commercial Company Ltd and NCPL Ltd are subsidiaries of NNDC Ltd being part of the NNDC Ltd Group.

HISTORY OF NNIL COMMERCIAL COMPANY LTD

NNIL Commercial Company Ltd previously known as Northern Nigeria Investment Limited (NNIL) was established in 1959 primarily to stimulate the industrial and economic development of the then Northern Region. The main focus was to undertake viable and profitable projects. The company was jointly owned by the then Northern Regional Development Corporation (NRDC) and Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC). The Commonwealth Corporation’s interest was taken up by New Nigeria Development Company Limited (NNDC) in 1978 making NNIL a sole subsidiary of NNDC Ltd. As one of the pioneer development finance institutions in Nigeria, NNIL was directly involved in the initiation/promotion with third parties of virtually all the pioneer manufacturing ventures in the Northern States. NNIL’s investments were spread on virtually all the sectors of the Nigerian economy. This includes financial institution such as the then Bank of the North, Guinea Insurance, Textile Mills which included UNTL, and Arewa Textiles, Metal, Food and Agriculture. As a result of re-engineering within NNDC Group, NNIL was converted into a full- fledged commercial company and renamed “NNIL COMMERCIAL COMPANY LIMITED in 1999. The main focus is shifted to Agricultural input such as fertilizers, Water Chemicals, Petroleum products, trading in grains and other Agricultural products NNIL Commercial Company has a strong asset based to cover for any eventuality and as collateral for any transaction. NNIL still participate in the Nigeria Stock Exchange as a corporate investor.

CORPORATE OBJECTIVE

NNIL commercial company Ltd’s objectives is to exploit the latent profitable opportunities that are abound in the marketing of both industrial and agricultural inputs including fertilizers and other allied Products of sub sectors of the economy with a view to generating optimum returns to our shareholders. NNIL’s strength is derived from the existing highly motivated management, strong fixed asset base, high yielding investment portfolio and considerable goodwill built over three and half decades.

To exploit the latent profitable opportunities that abounds in the importation and marketing of both industrial and agricultural chemicals of the economy with a view to generating optimum returns to our shareholders.

OWNERSHIP STRUCTURE OF NNIL COMMERCIAL COMPANY LTD

NNIL Commercial Company Ltd total assets in the sum of N3.238 billion comprise of issued and fully paid ordinary share capital of N1 each in the sum of N100 million, total equity in the sum of N3.095 billion (inclusive of the ordinary share capital) and total assets in the sum of N3.238 billion. The shareholding position as at March 31, 2021 being last date of audited accounts was as follows: • New Nigeria Development Company Ltd N90,000,000.00 representing 90%; and • New Capital Properties Ltd N10,000,000.00 representing 10%.
